Recently I have procured

1) VASP 5.4.1.

2) I also have new Machine with
>Intel CORE i7-7700 CPU /3.6GHz x ..
>OS Type 64 bit
with UBUNTU 16.04.LTS

This is the first time I would be installing and using VASP.
I am not sure what is
(i) Compiler [and how to check what is the compiler or to get desired one], And
(ii)How to install VASP on Ubuntu.

I would highly appreciate support to install the VASP .

the compiler is the tool that translates the source code into the executable,
please google for available compilers, we suggest to use the INTEL compiler
for beginners. you have to install the compiler with all libraries before you can start to install vasp
