p4_error: interrupt SIGSEGV

#1 Post by ag9xc » Mon Apr 16, 2007 9:03 pm

Hey Everybody,

I am a new VASP user. I just installed VASP on my cluster last week and when I tried running a hydrgen atom gas phase job, I got the following message (error)

part: xc-table for Ceperly-Alder, Vosko type interpolation para-ferro
POSCAR, INCAR and KPOINTS ok, starting setup
WARNING: wrap around errors must be expected
FFT: planning ... 1
p0_3362: p4_error: interrupt SIGSEGV: 11

What could be the possible reason(s). I would really appreciate if someone could guide me thorugh this.

Thanks,
Amit

p4_error: interrupt SIGSEGV

SIGSEGV 11 means that there has been a segmentation violation (most commonly, this is coaused by insufficient memory). Please check if the crash has been due to memory problems (ie: try to run vasp in a setup which requires less memory: small box, little k-points low precision) or have a look if you have any restrictions for ulimit on your machine.
